ADSL2+
The ADSL2+ offers faster broadband speeds compared to the standard ADSL broadband service. Increased broadband speeds as a result of ADSL2+ technology will facilitate faster data, Internet and video services. ADSL2+ is often used when FIBRE is not available or users do not need superfast broadband.
FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet)
Fibre to the Cabinet or FTTC is when a fibre cable runs from a BT exchange to a street cabinet that contains the Broadband equipment. From here it is linked to buildings and homes via BT’s existing copper network. This then connects the home or business to Fibre Broadband.
SoGEA (Single order Generic Ethernet Access)
SoGEA stands for Single Order Generic Ethernet Access.
Up until now, to deliver broadband to a home or office, you needed to have a traditional phone line installed and then ADSL Broadband or Fibre Broadband installed on top of it.
In the world of technology today most people only have this fixed line because it is necessary for their broadband to work. With the advancement and cost effectiveness of mobile handsets and VoIP, and the nationwide rollout of full fibre networks, there is less and less requirement for traditional phone services. FTTP (Fibre to the premise)
FTTP provides a fibre optic connection all the way from the telephone exchange to your premises, whereas traditional Fibre Broadband or FTTC (Fibre-to-the-Cabinet) is a Fibre connection to your local on-street cabinet, then a Copper connection from the cabinet to your premises. FTTP’s 100% Fibre connection offers lightning speeds and improves the performance of your internet connection.
