Mobile Data Capping

Hi there! As of today a new legislation for mobile phone invoicing/billing has been introduced via Parliament as part of the Digital Economy Act. It will apply to all new mobile phone contracts, including re-signs, taken out from the 1st October 2018 and aims to significantly reduce risk of “bill-shock” for consumers and businesses.

Customers must be given the option to set a limit by account, or mobile phone number at point of sale/renewal and notifications must be sent to end users when they are approaching a set limit and when they reach it. Providers cannot charge beyond the set bill limit, even if a customer exceeds the amount.
