kemptown phone lines down for 3 weeks. Have you a recovery plan?

Businesses in Kemptown, Brighton have had significant problems with their phone lines over the last few weeks. As far as we understand a vehicle crashed into a BT cabinet which disconnected several hundred phone lines in the area. The job of reconnecting the lines has taken some time, which has led to a number of businesses being without phone lines and broadband for up to 3 weeks. One business that was affected was 1st Class Garage. The owner of the garage Steve Kennard called me asking if there was anything that could be done to increase the number of inbound lines, as their current provider was only able to forward the landline number to 1 number (whilst the issue with the physical lines was resolved) which meant they were getting complaints of engaged tones and not being able to get through or leave a message.  Fortunately for Steve their broadband connectivity runs over Virgin Media fibre which meant we could liven up a ‘ Hosted Telephony Licence’ to which Steve could forward his number. As their phone number was now forwarding to a Hosted Telephony licence, calls could be simultaneously delivered to multiple numbers (fax number, mobiles 1, 2 etc) removing the problems highlighted.  As a result calls were now being delivered to site via the internet to an IP phone & to a number of PAYG mobile phones – instead of via BT phone lines which currently do not work.   If you would like to find out more about how Hosted Telephony can benefit your business please visit http://www.the-breakfast-club.co.uk/blog/?page_id=170

Regards for now.
